Matthew Smith

Matthew Smith is the Executive Office Manager and assistant to Professor Erik Brynjolfsson at Stanford’s Digital Economy Lab. He manages the operational and administrative functions that support the Lab’s work and keep the executive office running efficiently. His responsibilities include managing communications, coordinating schedules, handling financial processes, and serving as a key liaison with colleagues across Stanford and external partners.

Before joining Stanford, Matthew worked in similar roles at Harvard Business School and MIT, supporting senior faculty and research programs. He is known for his operational judgment, discretion, and the dependable support he provides to the Lab’s leadership.
